You can turn an inexpensive cut of beef, like chuck steak, into a real treat with this easy marinade. It tenderizes and boosts the flavor. —Karen Haen, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 pounds boneless beef chuck steak

Directions

  1. In a shallow dish, combine the first 7 ingredients. Add the beef and turn to coat. Cover; refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain and discard marinade. Grill steak, covered, over medium heat for 8-10 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 135°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 145°). Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing.
