Ingredients

  • 1 package (9 ounces) refrigerated cheese ravioli
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1/2 cup canola oil, divided
  • Additional shredded Parmesan cheese, optional
  • 1 cup marinara sauce or meatless spaghetti sauce, warmed

Directions

  1. Cook ravioli according to package directions; drain and pat dry. In a shallow bowl, lightly beat the eggs. In another shallow bowl, combine the bread crumbs, cheese and basil. Dip ravioli in eggs, then in bread crumb mixture.
  2. In a large skillet or deep-fat fryer, heat 1/4 cup oil over medium heat. Fry ravioli in batches for 30-60 seconds on each side or until golden brown and crispy; drain on paper towels. Halfway through frying, replace the oil; wipe out skillet with paper towels if necessary.
  3. Sprinkle with additional cheese if desired. Serve with marinara sauce.
Fried Cheese Ravioli Tips

Can you fry other kinds of ravioli?

Yes! Consider trying beef or sausage ravioli, or specialty ravioli, such as those stuffed with butternut squash, mushroom or lobster. Whether they are fresh, refrigerated or frozen, first cook in boiling water, drain, then pat them dry before dredging. If you have any ravioli left over, use them up in these amazing ravioli recipes!

How else can you make Fried Cheese Ravioli?

If you love air-frying, give these a try in the beloved appliance. Arrange prepared ravioli in a single layer in a greased air-fryer basket. Cook until golden brown, 3-4 minutes; flip, spritz with cooking spray and cook until golden brown, 3-4 minutes longer. They can also be baked at 350°F on a greased baking sheet until golden brown, 12-15 minutes.

Can you make Fried Cheese Ravioli ahead of time?

As is the case with most fried recipes, Fried Cheese Ravioli is best when it's made right before serving. If you're OK with the ravioli losing some crunch, make them in advance, then keep them warm on a rack placed over a baking sheet in the oven for 30 minutes.
