Here’s Every Whipped Drink You Can Make Using Stuff in Your Pantry
It all started with whipped coffee—and now people are turning everything into whipped drinks. From strawberry milk to whipped avocado, here are the most popular recipes on TikTok and Instagram.
Pumpkin Spice Whipped Coffee
This whipped coffee variation is very likely our favorite on this list—who can turn down all this whipped PSL? All you need are two tablespoons of instant coffee, 1/4 of a tablespoon of pumpkin pie spice and, finally, two tablespoons of hot water. Next, use a hand mixer to whip the mixture into stiff peaks (this will take somewhere between three and four minutes). Finally, finish your whipped creation with some ice and milk. You can also add a tablespoon of canned pumpkin into your whip if you’re craving a little more autumnal flavor.
Whipped Hot Chocolate
As if hot chocolate couldn’t get any better, ingenious TikTok user @TabethaaMarie had to go and whip it into something creamy, chocolaty and totally drool-worthy. And you don’t even need hot cocoa mix—you can use things you already have in your pantry. Beat two tablespoons cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon how water and, 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream in a medium bowl until it’s nice and foamy. Add more cream or water to thin, if needed. Serve over iced (or warm!) milk and top with a marshmallow if you have one handy to enjoy this delicious whipped hot chocolate.
Is Dalgona coffee (aka the original whipped drink) really as good as everyone says? No—it’s even better, according to one of our Test Kitchen staffers, who made it herself. She raves that the drink, which is made with instant coffee, is bold and strong like espresso yet creamy and frothy like a latte.
Whipped Strawberry Milk
Move over, Starbucks—there’s a new pink drink in town. Made by whipping one tablespoon of Strawberry Nesquik with four tablespoons of heavy cream, whipped strawberry milk not only looks beautiful but it also tastes like the strawberry milk of your childhood. Cue all the nostalgia.
You can do a lot of things with Nutella: stuff it into strawberries, bake it into cookies and, best of all, eat it straight from the jar. Now you can add frothing it into a decadent drink to that list. To make whipped Nutella at home, follow our step-by-step guide.
Matcha tea is great. Whipped matcha tea is even better. The frothy green latte looks fussy but is as simple as Dalgona coffee to make. Simply combine a tablespoon matcha powder with a tablespoon each of hot water and sugar. Then whisk together until foamy and serve over chilled milk. Yum. Psst! Make a vegan version by using dairy-free milk.
Whipped Peanut Butter Milk
If you’re obsessed with all things peanut butter (and who isn’t?!), grab a glass and a jar of your favorite PB—because this whipped peanut butter milk is about to become your new go-to drink. To make this drink, use a hand mixer to combine 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter, 1 teaspoon sugar and 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream. Serve the fluffy, creamy, peanut buttery mixture over iced milk. Bonus points if you add a Reese’s Pieces rim for extra indulgence.
Avocados aren’t just for toast and guacamole—the trendy fruit can also be whipped into a delicious drink topping. Blend together avocado and water, then top your gorgeous green concoction with the viral Dalgona coffee foam. Sounds weird, yes, but don’t knock it ’til you try it.
What’s a little bit spicy, a little bit sweet and a lot Instagram-worthy? A whipped chai, which simply swaps instant coffee for chai tea concentrate or powder. You can use any tea that’s leftover to make one of these yummy chai recipes, from cupcakes to breads.
