The Taco Bell Mexican Pizza Is Returning—Permanently

You read that right—Mexican Pizza is back for good!

If you keep up with Taco Bell menu news, you know there are always new items joining the lineup—often replacing eats that have overstayed their welcome. But every now and then, a classic is replaced, leaving loyal customers in shock. That’s exactly what happened with the Taco Bell Mexican Pizza.

This cult-favorite creation (ground beef and refried beans sandwiched between two crispy tortillas, then topped with melted cheese and tomatoes) was wiped from menus back in 2020. Since then, there has been an outcry on social media—and even a petition on Change.org—to bring back the beloved meal.

What Happened to the Mexican Pizza?

Back in November 2020, Taco Bell announced that it was parting ways with its Mexican Pizza.

This news was not taken lightly. The menu staple had been around since 1985, when it was first introduced as Pizzazz Pizza, and customers were devastated to see it go. So, they took to social media to air their grievances, and eventually, a Change.org petition was made to keep the Mexican Pizza on Taco Bell’s menu.

The devoted fan base rallied over 170,000 signatures on the petition, yet we still said goodbye to the Mexican Pizza. But in 2022, Taco Bell listened to its dedicated fanbase and brought it back on May 19. However, Mexican Pizza began to sell out across the country, and demand ended up being seven times what was anticipated. This meant that the planned six month run was cut down to just two months. That’s when Taco Bell realized fans were serious about their Mexican Pizza.

It’s Coming Back to Taco Bell…Again

Well, the fans have spoken. And once again, Taco Bell has listened. The chain just announced that we can expect to see the return of the beloved Mexican Pizza on 15 September. This time, it’ll be back on the menu permanently. They even hinted that other discontinued items might be making an appearance again!

While we can hardly wait, we’ll try to satisfy any Taco Bell cravings with our second string options, like the Beefy Potato Rito and a Pineapple Whip Freeze. We might even try to whip up a homemade Mexican Pizza.
