Aldi Is Set to Open 120 New Stores Across the Country
By the end of 2023, there will be over 2,400 Aldi stores nationwide.
There are endless reasons to love Aldi. From its grocery delivery to its affordable prices, it’s no wonder Aldi is one of America’s favorite supermarket chains.
Now, there will be even more opportunities to enjoy the Aldi experience: Aldi has announced that it will be adding 120 new stores nationwide in 2023. Read on to find out if a new Aldi location may be opening near you.
Why Are New Aldi Stores Opening?
Aldi credits its position as a fast-growing grocer as the reason for needing to open more stores. So far, the chain has already gained 5.3 million new customers this year.
“While inflation is undoubtedly driving unprecedented demand for affordable groceries, we know that once customers experience the Aldi difference, they keep shopping with us, even when they economy improves,” Jason Hart, CEO of Aldi U.S., explains. “Our growth is led by our customers, and they continue to want more Aldi locations coast-to-coast.”
In fact, in 2022, 139 Aldi stores were opened and remodeled and the chain accumulated 9.4 million new customers. Following the addition of new stores this year, Aldi is on track to have over 2,400 U.S. stores. That growth, Aldi writes in its announcement, is due to the relief customers search for from “soaring food prices.”
Where Will the New Aldi Stores Open?
Aldi specifies that while new stores will open nationwide, the Southeast region in particular is experiencing growth. Already, Aldi has opened up a regional headquarters and distribution center in Loxley, Alabama. We can also expect to see new Aldi locations in Baton Rouge and New Orleans as part of 35 new stores that will open this spring. According to Aldi, those two locations offer new markets for the chain.
What New Features Will the Stores Have?
New and existing Aldi stores will introduce eco-friendly store features. These include rooftop solar panels, the elimination of plastic shopping bags from stores and environmentally-friendly refrigerants.
Plus, whether customers are shopping in new or established Aldi stores, they can enjoy purchases in or out of stores. This is thanks to Aldi’s partnerships with DoorDash and Instacart, which provides delivery, or the chain’s curbside pickup option. Regardless of purchasing options, these are the things everyone should always buy at Aldi.
