  • Corn tortillas
  • Cooking spray

  • Oil spray bottle: You can use your favorite cooking spray, but a bottle like this lets you choose exactly what brand and type of oil you want to use.
  • Chef’s knife: Make sure you have a large sharp knife to cut your tortillas.


Step 1: Slice your tortillas

For a small batch meant for 1-2 people, 4 tortillas are plenty to start with. Stack tortillas on top of each other and shape into triangles by slicing once horizontally and then again vertically.

Transfer tortilla pieces to the air-fryer basket and arrange in a single layer. You may have to work in batches.

Step 3: Spray with cooking oil

Spray a generous coating of cooking oil over each tortilla slice, then sprinkle with salt. If you don’t have cooking spray, you can brush each slice with oil instead.

Step 4: Air-fry tortilla chips

Set the air fryer to 350°F and cook for 8-10 minutes. Keep a close eye on your chips, as some will cook closer to the 8-minute mark while others will take the full 10 minutes to crisp up.

Step 5: Serve and enjoy

Once tortilla chips are crispy, remove from the air fryer and serve with homemade pico de gallo or store-bought salsa!

Your air-fried tortilla chips are best served immediately, but if you have leftovers, let them cool completely, then store in an airtight container at room temperature.

Tips for Making Air-Fried Tortilla Chips

  • Don’t overcrowd the air-fryer basket. Work in batches to allow tortilla chips to lay flat in a single layer.
  • If the chips start blowing around in the air fryer, place a trivet on top to help keep them in place.
  • Cooking times may vary depending on what type of air fryer you use, adjust accordingly.
  • Make tortilla chips in the oven instead by baking at 400°F for 6-8 minutes.
