Here’s When the Next Season of ‘The Great British Baking Show’ Will Be on Netflix

It's exactly the wholesome binge-watch we need.

Plenty of British TV has taken America by storm. There’s been Sherlock, Doctor Who, Downton Abbey and more. But one overseas import is a bit more uplifting than those dramas, though—and that’s The Great British Bake Off (called The Great British Baking Show in the US).

If you’re not familiar with The Great British Baking Show, it’s like other baking competitions in that contestants are pitted against each other in a series of challenges; think cakes, tarts, breads and desserts. It’s gained a sizable following due to its likable contestants and cheerful rather than stressful atmosphere, and everyone’s eagerly waiting for the newest season.

When Do the New Episodes Drop?

Do you have your calendar ready? Season 13 will premiere on Channel 4 in the UK on September 13.

That’s right—it’s soon!

This will be the first season in a while to not film under pandemic restrictions—the previous two seasons for 2020 and 2021 were filmed in a “bubble.” And this season has shifted to a new location in the UK. Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will be back to judge the bakers’ talents, and hosts Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas will also return.

For US viewers, the show has usually dropped an episode on Netflix the Friday after it’s aired in the UK. While Netflix, which currently hosts five seasons of the show, hasn’t confirmed it’ll be streaming the new episodes, you can see a note saying “New season coming soon” on the service. That means the first episode might premiere in the US as soon as September 16! You can check out the full roster of this year’s contestants on the Great British Baking Show‘s website.
